Crimson Desert Hits
3 Million Copies in Its First Week

📅 March 28, 2026✍️ PoGamer StaffFIRST WEEK

Pearl Abyss’s open-world action RPG Crimson Desert launched March 19 and has already sold 3 million copies by the end of its first week, following over $20 million in Steam pre-order revenue before launch. It’s a strong debut for the ambitious title — despite a rocky start on Steam reviews.

Steam review caveat: Crimson Desert launched with a “Mixed” rating on Steam, primarily driven by performance complaints and missing pre-order bonuses. Pearl Abyss has since patched the bonus issue and the rating is gradually improving.

What Is Crimson Desert?

Set on the war-torn continent of Pywel, Crimson Desert follows Kliff — a warrior rebuilding his fallen mercenary faction. The game blends open-world exploration with fluid, skill-based combat that PC Gamer described as “a moonshine mix between Breath of the Wild and Dragon’s Dogma 2.” It’s available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and macOS.

Sales Milestones

Pre-launch: $20M+ in Steam pre-orders (Alinea Analytics estimate)
Launch day: 2 million copies sold
End of week 1: 3 million copies sold
Notable issue: Crimson Desert currently offers no support for Intel Arc GPUs. Pearl Abyss said they are “working on compatibility” — no timeline given.
⚡ POGAMER VERDICT

Strong start despite the turbulence. 3 million in a week is impressive for a new IP. If Pearl Abyss can smooth out performance and reviews, Crimson Desert has the bones to become a long-term hit.
