Best White Motherboards for Gaming in 2026: AM5 and Intel Picks
Updated October 22, 2026. A white motherboard can tie a build together, but its socket, memory type and case fit matter more than the color. This guide compares six current white or silver-white boards using their published specifications. These are editorial selections, not hands-on performance benchmarks.

Quick answer: For a full-size AMD gaming PC, start with the ROG Strix B850-A or the B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE. If you need USB4 or extra high-speed storage, see the X870 and X870E options. For an Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop, choose an LGA1851 board such as the ROG Strix Z890-A.
The six picks at a glance
| Motherboard | CPU socket | Size | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi | AMD AM5 | ATX | Best balanced AM5 pick |
| GIGABYTE B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE | AMD AM5 | ATX | Best white-on-white AM5 look |
| ASRock X870 Steel Legend WiFi | AMD AM5 | ATX | Best AMD USB4 option |
| MSI MPG X870E EDGE TI WIFI | AMD AM5 | ATX | Best feature-rich AM5 pick |
| ASUS ROG Strix Z890-A Gaming WiFi | Intel LGA1851 | ATX | Best full-size Intel pick |
| MSI MPG Z890I EDGE TI WIFI | Intel LGA1851 | Mini-ITX | Best compact Intel pick |
Compatibility first: Every board here uses DDR5. AMD AM5 and Intel LGA1851 are different platforms; CPUs cannot be moved between them. Older LGA1700 Intel CPUs and AM4 Ryzen CPUs do not fit these boards. Consult each manufacturer’s CPU support list and BIOS requirements for your exact processor.
1. ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi
Best balanced AM5 pick

A bright white PCB, practical PCIe 5.0 support, Wi-Fi 7 and a 20Gbps USB-C port make this a sensible starting point for a new Ryzen gaming build.
- Platform: AMD AM5 · B850 · DDR5
- Form factor: ATX
- Consider: Compare the exact M.2 lane and USB layout with your case and storage plan; this is a B850 board rather than a premium X870E model.
2. GIGABYTE B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE
Best white-on-white AM5 look
The ICE styling extends the pale finish across the PCB and heatsinks. It supports Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 series desktop processors and has tool-free M.2 and PCIe release features.
- Platform: AMD AM5 · B850 · DDR5
- Form factor: ATX
- Consider: Check the exact board revision and the official CPU support list before ordering, especially when pairing with a newly released CPU.
3. ASRock X870 Steel Legend WiFi
Best AMD USB4 option
A white-and-silver alternative with USB4, a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot and one PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot alongside two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots.
- Platform: AMD AM5 · X870 · DDR5
- Form factor: ATX
- Consider: Review the storage-sharing notes in the manual before populating every expansion slot.
4. MSI MPG X870E EDGE TI WIFI
Best feature-rich AM5 pick

Product image: MSI. Used for editorial identification.
A silver-white AM5 board with USB4, Wi-Fi 7, 5Gb Ethernet and two PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots for a storage-heavy premium build.
- Platform: AMD AM5 · X870E · DDR5
- Form factor: ATX
- Consider: Its extra connectivity makes sense only if you will use it; confirm clearance around your cooler and GPU.
5. ASUS ROG Strix Z890-A Gaming WiFi
Best full-size Intel pick

Product image: ASUS. Used for editorial identification.
A white Z890 board for Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop processors, with Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7 and five M.2 slots.
- Platform: Intel LGA1851 · Z890 · DDR5
- Form factor: ATX
- Consider: LGA1851 is a different socket from LGA1700. Check CPU support and any lane-sharing limits before purchase.
6. MSI MPG Z890I EDGE TI WIFI
Best compact Intel pick

Product image: MSI. Used for editorial identification.
A compact silver-white Mini-ITX board with Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7 and 5Gb Ethernet for a small Core Ultra desktop build.
- Platform: Intel LGA1851 · Z890 · DDR5
- Form factor: Mini-ITX
- Consider: Mini-ITX has fewer slots and tighter component clearance. Confirm your case, cooler and front-panel connector fit.
How to choose a white motherboard
1. Match the socket and CPU support list
Pick your CPU first. AM5 boards are for supported AMD Ryzen desktop processors; the Z890 boards here use LGA1851 for supported Intel Core Ultra desktop processors. An Intel chip will not fit AM5, and a Ryzen chip will not fit LGA1851. A matching socket alone does not guarantee every CPU works with every BIOS version, so check the exact support list on the official product page.
2. Check the case and memory
The five full-size boards in this guide are ATX; the MSI Z890I is Mini-ITX. Your case must support the chosen form factor. All six use DDR5, so DDR4 from an older build cannot be reused. Check the board’s memory support list if you plan to buy an unusually large or fast kit.
3. Buy the ports and storage you will use
Count the M.2 slots, USB-C ports, network connections and internal headers you need. USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 may matter for a fast external drive or dock, but they are not required for game frame rates. Populating some slots can share chipset or CPU lanes; check the board manual for the exact combination.
4. Plan the complete build
Allow room for the graphics card, CPU cooler and radiator. A white motherboard does not guarantee white cables, shrouds or a rear I/O panel. For the rest of the build process, see our PC building resources guide.
Frequently asked questions
Does a white motherboard improve gaming performance?
No. The finish is cosmetic. A compatible CPU, graphics card, sufficient memory, cooling and the features you actually need have a much greater effect on the finished system. Boards can differ in power delivery and connectivity, but the color itself changes nothing.
Can I reuse DDR4 RAM with these boards?
No. All six selections use DDR5 slots. Choose a DDR5 kit supported by your motherboard and CPU platform.
Should I choose B850, X870, X870E or Z890?
B850, X870 and X870E are AMD AM5 chipset families; Z890 is an Intel LGA1851 chipset. Choose the CPU platform first, then compare the exact board features and price. A higher chipset tier is useful when its connectivity and expansion fit your build.
Are these boards completely white?
They mix white, silver and darker components to different degrees. The GIGABYTE ICE and ASUS B850-A are especially strong choices when the visible PCB color matters; inspect current product photos and the exact retail revision before buying.
