Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Is Out: Platforms, Demo Saves and Editions

Reported October 20, 2026 · Retro gaming news

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launched October 15, bringing a new 2D exploration adventure to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Xbox on PC. If you played the free demo, the useful detail is that Konami supports carrying your progress into the full game, subject to a few specific conditions.

Where can you play Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse?

Konami’s launch announcement lists PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. The Nintendo store listing identifies a Switch version that is supported on Switch 2; that compatibility notice is different from an announcement of a separate native Switch 2 edition. Check the edition on the store page for your own system before buying.

How the demo save transfer works

Konami’s demo notice explicitly says that demo progress can be transferred to the full version. It also states four requirements, so do not treat “save transfer” as cross-platform progression:

  • Play the demo and full version on the same platform and with the same account.
  • Keep the demo save data rather than deleting it when you install the full game.
  • Update the full game to its latest version before transferring the save.
  • Remember that some content and features are restricted in the demo.

Steam currently lists the demo on its store page, and Konami also names PS5, Switch and Xbox Series X|S for the demo. If you tried the demo on one system and buy the full game on another, Konami’s stated transfer conditions do not cover that situation. Use the same account and platform to keep the path straightforward.

What makes it a Castlevania game?

The story moves to Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Rose Belmont, Trevor Belmont’s daughter, carries the Vampire Killer whip through the city and castle. The whip is both a weapon and a movement tool: Konami describes using it to swing across spaces and attack enemies in a faster 2D action-exploration game.

The official game site describes bosses including Death, Medusa and Carmilla. Defeating bosses gives Rose Arcana abilities tied to tarot cards; seven weapon categories and Relics add more ways to shape combat. Those are the advertised systems, not a claim that we have tested balance or performance. If you follow the older games, PoGamer also covered the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection; browse the Retro Gaming category for more classic-series coverage.

Standard versus Midnight Edition

The Standard Edition contains the game. Konami says the digital and physical Midnight Editions add a Digital Sound & Art Gallery, Trevor and Sypha style costumes, and a Family’s Grace Relic. Its sound gallery contains 71 tracks. An Alucard style costume is described as a preorder or early-purchase bonus; confirm current eligibility and the precise edition contents on your chosen storefront, because time-limited bonuses can expire.

Quick answers

Does the Castlevania demo progress carry over?

Yes, if you keep its save, use the same platform and account, and update the full version. Konami does not describe this as cross-platform save transfer.

Is this a remake of Castlevania III?

No. It is a new game set 23 years after that story, starring Rose Belmont. Its setting and mechanics draw on the series’ history without replacing the earlier game.

Where should a new player start?

The official demo is the lowest-commitment way to sample its opening stages. For more releases and updates across platforms, visit PoGamer’s gaming news. Source details above reflect publisher and platform pages checked October 20, 2026.
