Nintendo’s Switch 2 has shipped over 17 million units in its first six months, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo console ever launched. The milestone comes despite a complicated period for the company — production cuts, softening US holiday sales, and intense competition from PS5 and Xbox.

Context: Nintendo quietly reduced its current quarter Switch 2 production target from 6 million to 4 million units following weaker-than-expected US holiday 2025 performance, according to Bloomberg. Despite this, the 17 million unit total remains a company record.
